TTV Drop Tutorial
Overview of the system, then a practical guide to upload, organize, share, review, and collaborate on media.
1. What TTV Drop is
TTV Drop is a media collaboration system for uploading, reviewing, organizing, sharing, and approving production files in one place.
It is built for real working media: camera originals, proxies, audio, images, PDFs, delivery files, and full folder structures.
The system is especially useful for video review, because editors, producers, clients, and post-production teams can add markers, comments, ranges, retouch notes, and export data to editing software.
It also includes file sharing, upload links, recorder links, personalized share pages, and browser-based preview tools for supported media.
2. Main workflow in simple steps
Upload files or full folders to the server.
Organize them into folders and subfolders.
Preview files directly in the browser when the format is supported.
Create proxies for heavy or browser-unfriendly video formats.
Add markers, range comments, retouch notes, and cut notes.
Share single files, folders, recorder links, or upload links with other people.
Export marker data to editing systems or import XML back into Drop.
3. Upload files and folders
Drag files or folders into the upload zone, or click the zone to choose files from your device.
The upload area can detect whether you selected files or folders and prepares them for upload.
You can upload directly into the root or into the currently opened folder.
The upload panel shows selected items, total size, progress, and current transfer state.
Large uploads use chunked upload logic where supported, which helps reliability on unstable connections.
4. Files and folders on server
The file list is your main workspace for everything stored on the server.
You can sort items by different criteria such as name, size, and date.
You can select multiple items for batch actions like delete, move, copy, and zip.
You can create folders, rename files or folders, move content between folders, and open nested folders directly in the interface.
Each file or folder has its own actions menu for preview, sharing, upload links, recorder links, zipping, renaming, proxy actions, and delete.
5. Media preview types
Video: timeline, waveform, audio meters, frame stepping, markers, range markers, retouch markers, XML import/export, fullscreen, and proxy support.
Audio: waveform, transport controls, time display, metadata, cover art, and audio meters.
Images: large preview with navigation between files.
PDF: built-in PDF.js preview with download access.
Unsupported browser codecs: the player shows that the codec is unsupported and lets you create a proxy directly from the player.
6. Video player workflow
The internal player is designed for review and editorial collaboration, not just playback.
You can step by frame, jump faster, set In and Out points, and create point markers or range markers.
Range markers are useful when a note belongs to a full section instead of one frame.
Retouch markers let you draw directly on the video frame to indicate exactly what needs fixing.
Markers can include color, editor name, and comment text.
Cut markers can be flagged so exported XML can reflect edit intent more clearly.
You can resize the video area to show more image or more marker list, depending on what you need.
The player can use embedded timecode when media contains it, otherwise it counts from zero.
7. Markers and collaboration
Markers are stored separately and synced, so multiple users can review the same material.
Point markers are good for exact notes on one frame or moment.
Range markers are good for sections, scenes, timing notes, and cut notes.
Retouch markers are good for graphics, cleanup, framing, beauty work, blur requests, and paint fixes.
The marker list lets you jump back to exact positions by clicking timecode or comment text.
Markers can be exported to TXT, PDF, Final Cut Pro XML, Premiere/Resolve-style XML formats, and Edius XML where supported.
Markers and cut data can also be imported back from supported XML formats.
8. Proxy workflow
Use proxy creation when the original codec is too heavy, unsupported, or uncomfortable for browser playback.
You can create LQ or HQ proxies depending on whether you want faster review or better image quality.
Proxy jobs run in backend queue and progress can be monitored from the interface.
When proxy is ready, the player can switch to it automatically or let you toggle between proxy and original.
Waveform and other preview data are generated for the chosen source when needed.
9. Share links
Copy Link creates share links for files or folders.
Short links can have expiration time and optional password protection.
Shared file pages can open video, audio, image, and PDF previews in a dedicated shared interface.
Shared folder pages let users browse inside the shared folder and open supported files in preview modals.
Folder shares can be locked to their exact shared path so users cannot browse to parent folders.
10. Share REC and Upload Link
Share REC creates a special link where another user can record video in browser and send it directly into a chosen folder.
The recorder link can include bitrate, frame rate, resolution, container, and optional password.
Upload Link creates a link where another user can upload files or folders directly into a chosen folder without entering the full main interface.
These links are useful for clients, reporters, operators, or contributors who only need to send media.
11. Video Index
Video Index scans supported folder structures and shows video clips in list or grid view.
It reads camera-related metadata where available, such as camera model, lens, FPS, resolution, codec, timecode, and other technical details.
This is useful for camera card structures and media deliveries where you want a quick technical overview before opening files.
You can open clips from Video Index directly in the same player workflow.
12. Personalization and account tools
Profile Settings lets you manage account-related options such as password and passkey.
Personalization lets you set logo, background, and color scheme for shared pages.
Storage information in the top bar shows quota, used space, and remaining space.
The interface is designed so teams can keep their own visual identity on shared pages.
13. What this system is best for
Video approval and review between editor, producer, and client.
Proxy-based browser review of professional camera formats.
Collecting footage from operators, reporters, or remote contributors.
Sharing final or in-progress media in a controlled and better-looking way than raw file dumps.
Keeping comments, timing notes, retouch notes, and edit notes attached to media instead of spread across messages and screenshots.
